There are just some things you understand when you call Wyoming home.
You know you live in Wyoming when…
• You’ve experienced sunshine, wind, rain, and snow all in the same day.
• You know the saying “If you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes” is actually pretty accurate around here. ??
• “It’s only an hour away” somehow means it’s basically just down the road.
• You keep a sweatshirt, coat, blanket, and probably an ice scraper in your vehicle year-round.
• The wind ruins your hair before you even make it from the house to the car.
• Deer, turkeys, and antelope wandering through town barely get a second look.
• When your traffic jam is caused by geese, turkeys, or antelope, and you’ll happily take that over Denver traffic any day.
• You know better than to leave anything lightweight sitting outside unless you’re prepared to retrieve it from the neighbor’s yard.
• The sunrises are every bit as beautiful as the sunsets, and somehow we still stop to take pictures of both.
• Boots work for pretty much every occasion.
• You’ve turned the heat on in the morning and the air conditioning on by afternoon.
• Someone waves at you on a back road and you wave back, whether you know them or not.
• A “little wind” in Wyoming would probably be considered a major weather event somewhere else.
• You can drive for miles with more wildlife than traffic, and honestly, we kind of like it that way.
• Wide-open spaces don’t feel empty. They feel like home.
We may tease about the wind, the wildlife wandering through town, and weather that can’t make up its mind, but there’s something pretty special about living here.
The beautiful sunrises and sunsets, wide-open skies, hardworking people, small communities, and a pace of life that still feels a little simpler.
There really is no place quite like Wyoming.
